Long service leave

Employees can negotiate long-service leave and long-service leave benefits with their employer.

Long-service leave is a period of additional leave granted to employees who have completed an extended period of service with an employer. Other benefits may also be offered for long service.

Long-service leave and benefits are not legal requirements but can be negotiated between an employer and employee as additional entitlements under an employment agreement

Every employee must have a written employment agreement outlining the terms and conditions of employment. ‘Employment agreement’ has a broader meaning that includes all other documents and other agreements forming part of the contractual agreement between the employee and employer.
